Saudi Arabia continues to strengthen its logistics and maritime capabilities as the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) announced the addition of CMA CGM’s Jebel Ali Middle East Express 2 (JMX2) shipping service to King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam. The move reinforces the Kingdom’s position on the global maritime transport map and supports the smooth flow of international trade.
The newly introduced JMX2 service enhances operational efficiency and regional connectivity, contributing to Mawani’s broader efforts to elevate Saudi ports’ competitiveness and support national exports in line with Vision 2030 objectives.
New Regional Connectivity Strengthens Saudi Trade Links
The Jebel Ali Middle East Express 2 service connects King Abdulaziz Port with major regional ports, including Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi, Shuaiba Port in Kuwait, and Khalifa Bin Salman Port in Bahrain, with a capacity of up to 1,500 TEUs. This expanded connectivity improves supply chain resilience and accelerates cargo movement across the Gulf region.
Mawani confirmed that the initiative aligns with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to transform Saudi Arabia into a global logistics hub and a strategic link between continents. The expansion also supports improvements in global logistics performance indicators.
King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam remains a vital gateway to the Kingdom’s economy, featuring 43 fully equipped berths and a total handling capacity of up to 105 million tons of cargo and containers. Its advanced infrastructure and integrated logistics facilities continue to attract leading international shipping lines.
