The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources announced that it issued 46,871 Certificates of Origin in January 2026, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting exporters and streamlining trade services across industrial, commercial, and individual sectors.
According to the ministry’s official spokesperson, Jarrah bin Mohammed Al-Jarrah, the Certificate of Origin is a vital official document that confirms exported products are of national origin or have legally acquired national origin status. This certification plays a crucial role in facilitating international trade, customs clearance, and access to global markets.
The service is designed to support a wide range of beneficiaries, including industrial establishments, commercial companies, and institutions, as well as individual exporters such as farmers, fishermen, sole proprietors, and local artisans highlighting Saudi Arabia’s inclusive export ecosystem.
Types of Certificates of Origin Issued
The ministry clarified that Certificates of Origin are issued in four official formats, depending on the destination and trade agreements involved:
Certificate of Origin for GCC national products
Certificate of Origin for other Arab countries’ national products
Preferential Certificate of Origin under the unified GCC model for exports to countries and economic blocs with free trade agreements
General Certificate of Origin, issued in both Arabic and English, for countries that do not offer preferential treatment
This structured approach helps Saudi exporters maximize trade benefits, comply with international regulations, and strengthen their global competitiveness.
