On behalf of His Excellency Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef, Vice Minister for Mining Affairs Khalid Al-Mudaifer officially inaugurated the Cemtech Middle East and Africa Conference (Cemtech MEA 2026) in Riyadh. The high-profile event brought together global leaders and international experts from the cement industry, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s growing role as a regional industrial hub.
In his opening address, Al-Mudaifer emphasized that the cement sector is a critical pillar of Saudi Vision 2030, playing a vital role in mega development projects, infrastructure expansion, and long-term economic growth. He reaffirmed the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources’ commitment to developing a highly efficient, technologically advanced, and globally competitive cement industry aligned with the highest sustainability standards.
The Vice Minister highlighted several government-led initiatives aimed at transforming the sector, including enhancing competitiveness, improving energy efficiency in cement plants, and accelerating technological innovation. Among these initiatives is the Industrial Sector Competitiveness Program, which supports cement companies in shifting to low-carbon energy sources and improving operational efficiency resulting in production cost reductions of up to 9%.
Currently, the Saudi cement sector includes 16 companies operating 19 plants, with a combined production capacity of 82 million tons, while domestic demand stands at 56 million tons, positioning the Kingdom for future growth and export potential.
