RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s ambitious drive under Vision 2030 hit another milestone this week. The Public Investment Fund (PIF), the kingdom’s sovereign wealth engine, has launched the Expo 2030 Riyadh Company (ERC) a fully PIF-owned entity tasked with the planning, construction, and operation of the forthcoming Expo 2030 in Riyadh.
Building the Future: What ERC Will Do
- The Expo 2030 masterplan spans a staggering 6 million m² north of Riyadh, adjacent to the soon-to-open King Salman International Airport poised to become one of the largest World Expo sites ever hosted
- The event, scheduled from October 1, 2030 to March 31, 2031, is expected to welcome 40 million+ visitors, offering a vibrant showcase of Saudi hospitality and global innovation
- Lead by PIF veteran Talal H. AlMarri, former Aramco executive, ERC begins immediate construction, cultural programming, and partner coordination
Economic Impact : A Game-Changer
- The Expo’s delivery and legacy phases are forecast to inject $64 billion into GDP and create 171,000 direct and indirect jobs, with annual revenues of about $5.6 billion post-event
