Red Sea Global Unveils SIIG Model to Drive Regenerative Tourism Worldwide

Red Sea Global has announced a groundbreaking science-based framework designed to deliver a 30% net positive conservation impact across all its regenerative destinations by 2040, setting a new global benchmark for sustainable tourism development.

According to an official press release, the newly introduced SIIG Model short for Survey, Identify, Intervene, and Gain forms the backbone of Red Sea Global’s regenerative vision. The model is currently being applied across flagship destinations The Red Sea and AMAALA, with plans to make the framework available for adoption worldwide.

Speaking on the initiative, CEO John Pagano highlighted that the goal from day one was to transform tourism into a force that benefits both people and nature. By transparently sharing how a 30% net positive conservation outcome will be achieved, Red Sea Global aims to empower governments, developers, and investors to contribute toward long-term environmental resilience.

The SIIG Model follows a structured, evidence-driven methodology. It begins with Survey, establishing biodiversity baselines through long-term monitoring, followed by Identify, which evaluates threats to key species and habitats. The Intervene stage introduces targeted conservation actions such as regulated fishing and habitat enhancement while Gain measures and verifies biodiversity improvements using a dedicated assessment system.

Red Sea Global’s latest report outlines how the model was applied using one of the region’s most comprehensive environmental baseline studies, conducted across eight marine habitats during 2022 and 2023. A key intervention includes the proposed Al-Wajh Lagoon Fishery Management Area, spanning 5,015 square kilometers, where scientific projections indicate a 113% increase in reef fish, 72% growth in shark and ray populations, and 24% rise in marine mammals through strategic protection measures.

Destination Executive Director Ihab Kindi emphasized that the SIIG Model is built on measurable outcomes, positioning it as a practical roadmap for large-scale ecosystem recovery and transparent conservation reporting.
