Saudi Airports Handle 140.9M Passengers, Record 9.6% Growth in 2025

Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector achieved a historic milestone in 2025, as Saudi airports handled approximately 140.9 million passengers, recording a remarkable 9.6% growth rate, surpassing regional and global averages. This strong performance further positions the Kingdom as one of the fastest-growing and most advanced aviation markets worldwide, driven by tourism expansion, global events, and enhanced international air connectivity.

According to official statistics, passenger traffic included 76 million international travelers and 65 million domestic passengers, alongside an 8.3% increase in flights, bringing total aircraft movements to nearly 980,400 flights. This sustained growth highlights the long-term recovery and resilience of Saudi Arabia’s aviation ecosystem.

Major airports played a central role in this achievement. King Abdulaziz International Airport (Jeddah) led with 38% of total passenger traffic, handling an average of 146,000 passengers daily and exceeding its capacity utilization by 107%. King Khalid International Airport (Riyadh) followed closely with 29% of total passengers and a daily average of 112,000 travelers, while Madinah and Dammam airports recorded historic surges with capacity utilization exceeding 137% and 112%, respectively.

On the global front, Saudi Arabia strengthened its international reach by connecting to 176 global destinations, with high-frequency routes operating 52 or more flights annually. Notably, the Cairo – Jeddah route ranked second globally with 5.8 million seats, while the Dubai – Riyadh route secured seventh place worldwide with 4.5 million seats, reinforcing the Kingdom’s presence on the world’s busiest air corridors.

In parallel, the air cargo sector remained stable, with volumes reaching 1.18 million tons, primarily handled by airports in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, underlining aviation’s critical role in economic growth and logistics development.
